The A5 near Towcester has been closed in both directions after a multi-vehicle accident, Highways England has warned.
A spokesman for the authority tweeted this morning just after 6.30am.
"#A5 #Northamptonshire is closed in both directions between the #A45 #WeedonBeck and the #A43 #Towcester due to a multiple vehicle collision.
"Police are on scene with emergency services. Updates to follow but please plan an alternative route if heading that way this morning."
There are no further details at this stage about the accident.
