A primary school in Northamptonshire that has been rated as “satisfactory” in the last three Ofsted reports has now been graded as “good”.
Towcester CofE Primary School was formed six years after an amalgamation of St Lawrence Junior School and Towcester Infants.
The school received the “good” rating after the latest inspection in October.
Headteacher, Richard Camp, said: ““I’m so delighted and proud of the work and effort that has gone into the school and would like to thank everybody for their support and help over the years to enable us to achieve our goal.”
Julie Godwin, chair of governors, added: “The perception of the school within the town has changed significantly over recent years –and this ‘rubber stamp’ of ‘good’ from Ofsted now endorses that.”
The recent Ofsted report noted that ‘pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is one of the main strengths in the school’. This is based on the school’s ethos and values which provide extra opportunities to ensure that all pupils have a rounded learning experience to help them become happy and confident individuals ‘who are proud of their school’.
The inspectors recognised that ‘subjects are thoughtfully developed to sustain pupil interests and foster their love of learning’ and that teachers have ‘high expectations of pupils and pupils take pride in their work’.
Mr Camp said: “Since I joined the school in 2011, we have all worked hard to give pupils a wide range of opportunities including visiting other schools in other countries and I am extremely pleased that Ofsted have recognised this in their report.
“Our development of the learning environment, both indoors and out, has strengthened the children’s enthusiasm for learning and they are very keen to come to school every day to have new experiences.”
